For students, registration is like a personal puzzle: fit required classes around a job, an internship, a commute, family obligations or simply the need to sleep. But zooming out from one’s schedule reveals a larger question: What kind of week is the University of Toledo built to offer?
The JuicePress analyzed all course offerings listed for the fall 2026 semester found on UToledo’s student portal in September 2026, covering undergraduate, graduate, law and medical course options. While the portal is built for searching specific classes and not for producing a complete class registration report, it does show how the University distributes its course offerings across colleges, formats, days and times.
The College of Medicine Offers the Most Courses
The University of Toledo has classes offered under 10 colleges. Among them, the College of Medicine and Life Sciences accounts for 1,581 of the 4,682 course sections listed for fall 2026 — about one third of all sections offered. Other colleges with the most course sections offered are the Judith Herb College of Arts, Social Sciences and Education followed with 928 sections, the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics with 679 and the College of Engineering with 533.
Keeping in mind that these counts do not show how many students are enrolled in each college, yet, the distribution gives a useful picture of what the schedule has to accommodate: clinical training, STEM, arts and professional programs all sharing one calendar.
Lectures Are the Most Common Course Type
The traditional lecture remains UToledo’s most common listed course format with 1,858 lecture sections — about 40% of all sections offered. Clinical sections came next with 1,164, followed by 376 laboratories, 285 medical third-year electives, 142 recitations, 101 field experiences and 96 studios.
Distance Learning Expands Options
When looking at how classes are delivered, in-person options were not included in the list. The available listing for other course formats included 556 distance learning sections, 40 blended sections and 34 Competency-Based Education sections.
Midweek Is Heavier
Course offerings throughout the week are not evenly distributed. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday carry more listed class activity than Monday or Friday. In fact, Tuesday has the largest number of sections compared to any other day of the week with 278 listed sections. Wednesday follows in second place with 220, with Thursday having 219, Monday with 176 and Friday with 124.
Most Classes Sit in the Middle of the Day
While the earliest listed class begins at 7 a.m., and the latest listed course ends at 10:05 p.m., most occur in the late morning and early afternoon. And while night-owl schedules exist, they are scarce.
The most common times Rockets actually have classes are between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m..

Data was retrieved on Sept. 11, 2026. Since the portal is live, the number of course sections offered may change as sections are added, canceled or updated, and may not fully capture all sections.
